2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (17.5 hours/week)

Monday through Friday following the School's Calendar

Riverview Charter School’s TIDEWATCH Program is unique in that it includes Time for Investigation, Discovery and Enrichment opportunities While participating in programs After Traditional Classroom Hours.  The program's mission is to provide onsite after school care that combines learning opportunities in support of Riverview's mission, with meaningful programs that engage students and build a strong sense of community.  Expert instructors facilitate programs that are focused on components that are integral to the vision of Riverview in its charter: Service-Learning, healthy living, environmental stewardship, art infusion, global awareness/respect for diversity, technology, social/emotional wellness, and community partnerships.

Essential Duties:

  • Ensures registration and check in/checkout procedures are followed;
  • Creates, plans, organizes and leads various hands-on activities for students in Kindergarten through Eighth grade, including arts and crafts, physical activities, and special interest activities in an atmosphere where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences;
  • Monitors individual students, classroom, recreational activities, etc. for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive learning environment;
  • Maintains expertise in assigned area(s) to fulfill project goals and objectives;
  • Ensures children are supervised at all times, escorting students to and from activities, using proper communication with other staff;
  • Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students for the purpose of ensuring their understanding and the potential consequences of violation;
  • Communicates effectively with the staff members, students, parents, administrators, providers and other contact persons using tact and good judgement in keeping with the mission and vision of the school;
  • Reports observations and incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) in a timely manner to the TIDEWATCH Director and documents using incident report forms;
  • Maintains a clean, orderly area, picking up as needed and sanitizing toys;
  • Leads and directs students in case of an emergency;
  • Follows appropriate training, maintains basic first aid and CPR certification;
  • Maintains a safe and secure working environment;
  • Adheres and enforces all school policies including those related to attendance, punctuality, confidentiality, and proper dress rules;
  • Works under the supervision of the TIDEWATCH Director and school administration;
